Job Responsibilities:
  • Provide estimates of costs and measures for weatherization and rehab projects. Write technical descriptions specifying work to be conducted. Analyze plans and diagrams or observes and makes notes on construction activities. *
  • Conducts energy auditing services, which may be but are not limited to, the Blower Door Test, Combustion Analysis Zone, Zone Pressure Diagnostics, measures existing insulation, completes WAWEB auditing tool, performs energy audits and estimates materials needed. *
  • Conducts quality control inspections or projects when necessary including verification that all materials shown on work order were used and installed; assures workmanship was done in accordance with Department of Health and Human Services standards and other grant standards; assures all work has been completed. Recommends in writing any follow-up needed and explains actions required to the contractor. *
  • Assists in tracking clients, expenditures and contractors for reporting purposes. *
  • May represent the Agency at various housing meetings with the City and/or County. Attend seminars and receive training as and when required. *
  • Assists in meeting all program and agency reporting requirements. *
  • Complies with Agency’s Mission, Values and Culture statements.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned. *

Physical Requirements:

Regularly required to sit, to use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and talk or hear. Frequently required to reach with hands and arms. Occasionally required to stand, bend, and walk. Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, and peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Must have the ability to travel in motor vehicle and/or other forms of transportation for hours at a time and have physical mobility to move around airports as well as in and out of motor vehicles. Must have the ability to bend, stoop, squat and twist at waist, climb up and down ladders, and maneuver in small and enclosed areas.


Qualifications & Education:

Education:  HS diploma or GED required. Current Weatherization certification for Energy Auditors from the Department of Health and Human Services is preferred; if not held, must be obtained within 2 years of hire.

Experience: Between one and three years of weatherization and housing inspection experience preferred.                                                       

Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of construction methods and terminology, building codes and familiarity with the NEAT/MHEA audit required.
  • Ability to maintain satisfactory working relationships with the public, departmental supervisors and staff; public speaking and organizational skills.
  • Intermediate to advanced level computer skills with experience in Microsoft Office software programs required.
  • Mathematical ability and skills in heating, cooling, plumbing, carpentry and energy conservation measures are desirable.
  • Establish and maintain a positive, effective working relationship with staff, clients and contractors of varying educational and cultural backgrounds.
  • Work with staff to resolve conflict in an appropriate “problem solving” manner beneficial to all concerned and the agency as a whole.
  • Oral and written communication skills appropriate to the position.
  • Participate in all required Community Action program meetings.
  • Maintain consistent and regular attendance and punctuality based on designated work schedule.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Ability to multi task and prioritize job duties and functions to meet required deadlines.
  •  Maintain professional confidentiality of client/staff information

SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS

  • Must be able to pass a criminal history, motor vehicle check and national sex offender registry check.
  • Valid driver’s license, a driving record in compliance with Community Action insurance carrier requirements.
