Early Head Start Paraprofessional

Job Responsibilities:
  • All other duties as assigned by direct supervisor or management.
  • Assist classroom staff and cooperate in a supportive role in the classroom.
  • Assist classrooms in the distribution, delivery and cleanup of meals.
  • Assist in implementing large and small group activities.
  • Assist in providing a variety of ways to ensure frequent and consistent contact with families.
  • Assist in the continuity of care for all children.
  • Participants in classroom child supervision procedure compliance.
  • Assist in the recruitment of children and families to our HS/EHS/GSRP programs.
  • Assist with planning and implementation of the daily program according to the principles in the Creative Curriculum.
  • Comply with Agency’s Mission, Vision and Culture statements.
  • Comply with program and Agency policies and procedures.
  • Assist in completing the Assistant Teacher duties and responsibilities when Assistant Teacher is absent.
  • Engage with children and families
  • Participates in recruitment and attends events as scheduled.
  • Perform duties as assigned to maintain clean, organized and inviting classroom such as food service, washing dishes and organizing supplies.
  • Provide direct supervision of children.
  • Responsible to keep assigned work area or classroom clean and assist in facility checks and miscellaneous housekeeping duties as assigned by direct supervisor.

 


 


Physical Requirements:
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and talk, bend, stoop and kneel, see and hear, use hands and arms to lift up to 60 lbs. and walk around the classroom, outdoor play area and school facilities.
  • Work is performed in a classroom setting and school environment where the noise level is moderate to high.
  • Be able to with stand different temperatures through the winter, spring, summer, and fall to be able to provide supervision and engagement with children in outside play per program temperature guidelines.
  • Work is performed in a classroom setting and school environment where the noise level is moderate. Qualifications & Education:

EducationMinimum of a high school diploma or GED is required. Bilingual language speaking a plus.

Experience:  Minimum of six months experience in early childhood development is preferred.

Employees within this classification are required to show:
• Criminal background investigation every five years and/or as needed including fingerprinting.
• Pass a physical examination.
• Prefer current First Aid and CPR certification. (will train)
